Manitoba is the original "catch & release" province - and the province's Master Angler record books speak for themselves. Thanks to its fish management policies (using only barbless hooks and letting the big ones go to be caught again), Manitoba has earned a well-deserved reputation for great fishing. Land a lunker and you're likely to earn a Master Angler award.
Northern Manitoba is popular for its extraordinary fishing for everything from lake trout to the mighty northern pike, plus a variety of other fishing opportunities.
Manitoba's numerous rivers and lakes cover nearly one-sixth of the province, so it's no wonder that it's such a popular destination. But fishing isn't the only thing to do in Manitoba. The province is amazingly varied, ranging from tundra and boreal forest in the north, to rolling , wooded parkland in the central region, to prairie near the southern border.
Hunters find the rugged, dense forests of Manitoba plentiful with large game including whitetail deer, moose, timber wolves, and elk. The marshes and prairies are populated with small game like ducks, geese, and ruffed grouse. Such diverse terrain allows hunters a wide variety of options in the continents heartland.
The choices Manitoba offers adventurers are endless. For an out-of-the-ordinary excursion, try a tundra tour to watch polar bears, beluga whales, and a wide variety of birds. For a more physical challenge, fly-in to a remote location for a canoe excursion on one the province's sparkling clear rivers.
Whatever you desire, Manitoba makes any trip a true adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy!
